A recent commission for Ohio State U. fans. O-H-I-O!

Customer Thank-You Cards

This week I received a very nice Thank You card in the mail.  The card was from a couple that were married last summer and had me draw caricatures at their reception. I was blown away by the gratitude they continue to have regarding my artistic efforts on their special day!  You can't ask for anything more than this. I am greatly blessed with wonderful clients such as these. Here is the massage they wrote word for word:

"Sam,

Kim and I wanted to say Thank You 1 more time. You were a huge hit at the wedding and are still being talked about! From day one we wanted something other than a photo booth and you were the perfect fit. We will always recommend you anytime we can.

Kim & Nick"

Indian Arrowhead Tattoo Design

Here's a pencil drawing of a tattoo design dreamed up by a friend of mine. He also has two other tattoos drawn by yours truly. Sometimes you have to pull away from one project to meet a deadline for another and that's how this one was. In the end this design was going to look too busy on his forearm so he had to simplify it a little.

Wedding signing board art

Here is a recent piece I was commissioned to do by the lovely TV news personality Jamie Sullivan to be displayed at her wedding reception. She was really great to work with and I'm glad their wedding and reception turned out very well.  May they have many great years together.

The Beatles, Abbey Road

I haven't posted here in what seems like an eternity and I apologize. I've had a busy summer and I'm currently working on some commissions with deadlines. Here is a black & white sketch of the enormously famous Abbey Road zebra crossing image. I did this sketch for a wonderful couple who's wedding I drew at this past summer and the sketch was printed on the paper I used. Needless to say they were BIG Beatles fans.

Wedding Caricature

Here is a live caricature from a recent wedding reception.  I took the photo with my phone which does a half decent job considering how dark it is in these types of venues.  I then opened it in photoshop and lightened it a bit.

Caricature commissions

I'm currently very busy with commissions.  Wedding signing boards, office staff caricatures and tattoo a design!  I wish I could share more now but I need to respect the clients until it's the right time. Stay tuned...

or "tooned"!  In the meantime here is an old line drawing.

www.artofsamuel.com

Big news!  My other website http://artofsamuel.com has been completely overhauled with new content, new look and additional pages.  There is now a weddings page and a design page.  It's been a long time coming and there's been some bumps in the road but it's finally finished!  Please go take a look around!

Digital Caricature

I don't believe I have posted this one here yet.  This guy was part of a corporate team that I drew last year and he is my favorite.  I have another group of office staff that I will be working on very soon.

State Wrestling Tournament

It's embarrassing how long it's been since I have blogged.  Inexcusable!  I currently have plenty of studio work that I will share in the future.  Here is a gift caricature I finished recently for a couple of local wrestlers that made it to the state tournament.

lines and colors

An illustration to show color process from line work to full color.

Live caricatures

I like this one except for the fact that it's slightly out of focus.

Party Caricatures

A caricature drawn at a birthday party recently.

Brainy

The brain is part of a logo I designed recently.  Of course I had to have a little fun with it by adding the eyes.  The humorous possibilities are endless.

Respect your elders

A little illustration I did just before Christmas for a friend.  Elderly folks can be so charming.

Still Blogging

Yes, I'm still blogging.  It's embarrassing how long it's been since my last post. The whole December thing hits pretty hard and before you know it your behind on stuff you should be doing.  That's my lame excuse anyway.  Sometimes I like to take older drawings and tweak them a little and the pic here is one I "adjusted".  Still could use some TLC.

National Caricature Day

Today is National Caricature Day as proclaimed by Fox 8 in Cleveland, Ohio.  On the Fox 8 site there is a direct link to the International Society of Caricature Artists (ISCA) website.  Pass it on!  Here is the link for the Fox 8 segment:

Super quick super loose sketch.  Who?  I dunno.
